Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician from the United States. Born October 20, 1964, she was the 49th Vice-President of the United States. She is the first female vice presidency and the highest ranking female official in U.S history. She is a part of the Democratic Party and was previously the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017. In addition she was an United States senator representing California between 2017-2021. Harris was born and raised in Oakland, California. Her career began with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later recruited to join the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was elected district attorney of San Francisco. Harris was elected Attorney General of California in 2010, and then she was re-elected in 2014. Harris served as the junior United States senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Martinez in 2016's Senate election to become the second African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. As senator, she fought for healthcare reform and federal de-scheduling of cannabis, a pathway towards citizenship for immigrants without a legal status and the DREAM Act, a ban of assault weapons and progressive tax reform. She is best known for her sharp questions to Trump administration officials during Senate hearings.
