Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was born on the 10th of March 1949. She is an American investor, speaker and consultant. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage she established. NRT purchased it for $66 million in 2001. Corcoran eventually left the company. Corcoran was a participant in 12 episodes of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. By February 2020, she had closed 53 deals. The most significant of these was a purchase of $350,000 for Coverplay at 40 percent. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second of 10 children in a middle class Irish-Catholic family. Florence Corcoran's mother was an exemplary household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was constantly changing jobs throughout Corcoran’s life. Her family often depended on food delivery services for free from a local grocer. Corcoran recalls her father being an intoxicated man who would sometimes treat her mother with condescension and disrespect, especially after having consumed alcohol. Corcoran struggled at school, and was later told that she had dyslexia. Corcoran entered in high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after attending a Catholic elementary school. After flunking several courses during her first year of high school, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School, where she received a grade of D.
